The is a gearbox inside the gearbox, and in general gears are POM(plastic), we can also replace them with metal gears, and it would increase its cost by doing so.

Application of stepper motors:
Stepper motors are used for precise control, widely used on medical equipment, 3D printer, industrial precise control, automation equipment, etc.
